The planned development of the JIIPE industrial area to become a Special Economic Zone (KEK) in the field of Technology and Manufacturing has the support of a number of parties. BKPM Head Bahlil Lahadalia, President Director of Pelindo III Doso Agung and the Directors of JIIPE and the local Forkompimda ranks, Saturday (14/03), visited JIIPE to conduct a coordination meeting to accelerate the formation of the JIIPE industrial area as a Special Economic Zone (KEK) for Technology and Manufacturing. In addition, they also conducted field trips in the JIIPE industrial area. One of the locations visited was PT Freeport Indonesia's prospective smelter area of 100 hectares within the JIIPE industrial area.
Meanwhile Pelindo III Managing Director Doso Agung said, his party as one of the shareholders of the JIIPE industrial area had submitted a request for JIIPE to become a Special Economic Zone (KEK) for Technology and Manufacturing since a year ago. With the coordination meeting between JIIPE, BKPM and the local government on JIIPE's plan to become a KEK of Technology and Manufacturing, it can be realized soon, so that it can facilitate the development of the JIIPE industrial area going forward.
JIIPE is the first industrial estate in East Java that is integrated directly with the port, with a total area of 2,961 hectares. JIIPE industrial estate is predicted to be one of the leading industrial zones of the Indonesian economy if it can obtain the status of a KEK of Technology and Manufacturing.
